Governor Profiles
Angela Allard (Chair) (LA Governor)
I feel very privileged hold the position of Chair at Owlsmoor Primary school with a group of governors with strong and diverse skills to take the work of the governing body forward
Having been a governor for six years, four at Owlsmoor, I have actively participated in the board’s activities including Chair of Resources, Numeracy, Pupil Premium and Attendance. Most recently I participated in recruitment of the new Head Teacher, who joined us in September 2022.
I became a governor to offer my skills in business and finance skills to the strategic direction, development and support of Owlsmoor Primary school; its pupils and staff. I believe that all pupils should have access to a quality education and this in turn contributes significantly to the wellbeing and success of pupils and wider society.
As a Chartered Management Accountant [ACMA, CGMA] I have over 20 years’ experience in both the corporate environment and higher education.
I have lived in Sandhurst for over 20 years and am a parent of a child at the school.
Liz Robson (Parent)
I joined the Governors at Owlsmoor primary school in May 2022. Both my daughters joined the school in Nursery and have been very happy at the school. We have been pleased with the progress they have made socially and academically and this inspired me to join the governing body to help the school to continue to support all of its pupils to develop as my girls have.
I am a qualified primary school teacher (with 20+ years experience in early years and key stage one). During my career I have had the opportunity to be a teacher governor and enjoyed the insight into the running of the school that this gave me. I also led the school council for the children which gave me a further unique perspective into the dynamics of a primary school. I am currently a TA at Owlsmoor, supporting the teachers in the year group, working with small groups and covering classes.
I have extensive experience of team working as part of the leadership teams in the schools that I have worked in and I am keen to use my enthusiasm for education with my experience to help Owlsmoor in the coming years.
Jane Lucas (Co-opted)
As a Primary School teacher for over 20 years, when I retired, I wanted to continue to use all the skills, knowledge and experience that I had gained in my career. I have lived in Owlsmoor for nearly 30 years, and so I was delighted to be co-opted as a Governor of the School in February 2021, just prior to the Covid pandemic, and I have continued to serve the pupils and the school since then.
I firmly believe that all children deserve to receive a first-rate education in a safe learning environment that delivers a stimulating curriculum and encourages high standards of behaviour and respect for others. I see each child as a unique individual who deserves guidance and encouragement in order to develop a lifelong love of learning and who, if a school gets that right, is then able to reach their full potential and feel personal success.
Therefore, I am proud to be part of the governance of Owlsmoor School which has gone from strength to strength in recent years.
Ray Mossom (Co-opted)
I was born in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and moved with my family in 1982. We lived in Owlsmoor until 1993 when we moved to our current house in College Town. My 3 children attended Owlsmoor Primary School in the early 1980's and my son's daughter attends Owlsmoor Primary since 2021. I worked in IT since 1967, the last 40 years in sales, the last 10 in Cyber Security, Risk, Compliance & Threat Intelligence. I have been a borough and town councillor for Owlsmoor since 2019.I believe I can bring a wealth of business experience to the governors, having worked in large companies such as IBM, BMC & Trend Micro. I have also been involved in a number of start-ups being responsible for Europe and Africa. I have also travelled extensively to the USA on business.
Liam Buggs (Vice-Chair) (Co-opted)
I am excited to be given this opportunity to serve as a governor at Owlsmoor Primary, supporting the school in its aims in developing a love for life-long learning where pupils achieve their personal best in a safe and happy environment.
My background is in education having spent a number of years as a primary teacher and senior leader in schools across Surrey; leading on strategic vision for full-through teaching and learning, raising attainment and standards as well as day-to-day school management.
Currently I am a Director of Educational Technology within a Managed Service Provider, supporting primary, secondary, independent, FE and specialist schools across Surrey, London and Sussex. This is also a hugely rewarding role where I am able to work with both pupils and staff in effective and impactful use of technology to support teaching and learning at all levels.
I live locally having moved to Sandhurst in recent years and am looking forward to being able to support a local school with the skillset that I bring in this capacity.
Simon Mole (Co-Opted)
I moved to Owlsmoor in late 2019, with my wife who was pregnant at the time, to build a family home and life in Berkshire. Since then we have really enjoyed the area, and are looking forward to seeing our son grow up here. From a personal perspective, I am really keen to be able to positively influence the local community, and specifically local education, to further enhance the experience of my son, and other young people in our community.
I believe I have the skills in bringing a commercial and business background to support the school in fulfilling its philosophy to allow its children to achieve personal success and have a fantastic start to education.
Overall, I’m passionate about ensuring our children have the best start to education as possible and if I can play a role within the community to support our schools to deliver excellence, this will be a rewarding challenge.
Hannah Wakelin (Staff Governor)
I wanted to join the governing body to get a wider understanding of the school from a strategic point of view as well as supporting the School Development Plan from outside the classroom.
Nashir Ahmed (Parent Governor)
One of the most rewarding aspects of my career has been the opportunity to give back and educate the community. I have been involved in various community projects, ranging from financial literacy workshops to DE&I sessions in my workplace. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the power of collective action and the importance of fostering strong community ties.
My desire to become a school governor is driven by a combination of my professional expertise and passion for community development. I believe that my skills and experiences make me well-suited to contribute to the governance of a school and help it achieve its mission of providing a high-quality education to all students.
